Department of ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Advanced Laboratories:

The Faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department are always interested not only in updating the curriculum, but also in enhancing the laboratory facilities to cope up with the new developments in the areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Through Direct Central assistance scheme and other projects, the basic electronics and communication laboratories are constantly upgraded with new equipments. More design oriented experiments are being offered in laboratory classes. Lab manuals has been prepared for all the laboratories. Based on the technological innovations, new facilities are being added every year for providing training to the students to make them suitable for the future needs.

Network System Design Center

The Network System Design Center is a unique facility provided for advanced researchers and student researchers in the Computer Communication Network Design Domain. This center proves its existence with collaboration from Intel Inc.,USA and Motorola Inc.,

VLSI Design Centre

VLSI Design Centre funded by Department of Electronics, Government of India is being setup with extensive facilities for providing training in the area of VLSI Design at the cost of around Rs.50 Lakhs. The main objective of this project is to develop manpower in the area of VLSI Design and its related softwares by providing training at UG, PG, PhD level. The software packages include CADENCE, SYNOPSYS, TANNER, XILINX, MAGMA, COWARE & MENTORGRAPHICS. This lab will be of immense use for the newly approved PG course on VLSI Design.

Networks Laboratory :

Under Network Project funded by Swiss Development and Co-operation, the department received the fund to set up a NETWORK lab with 8 Mbps Leased line connectivity to Internet. The main objective is to establish facilities to share the resources of other institutions namely IISc., Bangalore, Osmania University, Hyderabad, NIT., Surathkal and College of Engineering, Trivandrum. Training will also be provided to students on Web Page creation as well as Information Technology. The total project fund is about Rs.80 Lakhs spreaded over five years.

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory:
Under Project IMPACT, a Laboratory has been created to strengthen the facilities in the thrust area-Digital Signal Processing. The Laboratory is developed in view of carrying out DSP based projects in the areas of Signal Processing, Speech Signal Processing, Image Processing, Communication and Bio-Medical Signal Processing. In this regard, the Laboratory is being equipped with adequate Hardware as well as Software support to carry out the same. Further, it is also proposed to strengthen the existing facilities by providing additional financial inputs through various funding agencies so as to facilitate carrying out of Research and Development activities in the near future. Under UNIT1 project, Texas Instruments (USA) has agreed to enhance the facilities of the DSP Laboratory.
