 Establishment of the College
PSG College of Technology was established in the year 1951 and the founders wisely decided to locate it in the same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute. Thus, today PSG College of Technology and PSG Industrial Institute are the best examples of effective industry institution interaction and PSG College of Technology can be considered to be one of the few "TEACHING COMPANIES" in the world. They take all efforts to impart technology diffusion and faculty development programs. PSG College of Technology has been fortunate to have the guidance of illustrious Managing Trustees and Principals with foresight and far reaching vision. The PSG College of Technology has been in the forefront of innovations in technical education not only in Tamil Nadu but also in India. The first principal of PSG College of Technology, Dr. G.R. Damodaran was instrumental in the planned growth of the institution, from the humble beginnings in 1951 to the present status of a world renowned technological institution that PSG College of Technology is today.

1924 June 4 Sarvajana High School started.
1926 Jan 25 PSG & Sons’ Charities Trust registered
    25 PSG Rangaswamy Naidu assumed office as
Managing Trustee
  June 14 Foundation Stone laid for PSG Industrial Institute
1929 Aug 10 PSG Industrial School Certificate programs started
1937 Oct 19 PSG Industrial Institute building opened by
Thiru. C. Rajagopalachari
1939 July 15 PSG Polytechnic started with LME LEE & LPT
programs.
1943 June 8 Prof. G.R. Damodaran assumed office as Director of PSG Institutions.
1944 June 21 LTM programme started.
1947 July 14 PSG Ganga Naidu assumed office as Managing Trustee.
  Aug 11 PSG College of Arts and Science started.
1948 Oct 21 Thiru G. R.Govindarajulu assumed office as Managing Trustee
1951 July 1 Prof. G. R. Damodaran assumed office as Principal, PSG College of Technology.
    16 B.E. Mechanical & Electrical programs. started.
  Aug 26 Inauguration of PSG College of Technology
1952     Prof. G. R. Damodaran elected to Lok Sabha.
1953 June 21 B.E. Civil programme started.
1956 June 21 LCE programme started.
1958 Feb 27 PSG College of Technology Hostels opened by Dr. A. L. Mudaliar.
  July 15 M.E. Programme in Electrical Engineering started.
  Oct 13 College Main Building opened by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Vice President of India.
      Prof. G. R. Damodaran elected as M.L.C.(served until 1970)
1959 June 21 NDCom programme started.
1960 July 25 Post-Diploma in Textile Chemistry, Production Engineering and Industrial Engineering programs. started.
1962 Jan 21 PSG Polytechnic Hostel opened by Thiru K. Kamaraj, Chief Minister.
  July 15 M.E. Power System, Structural Engineering and Machine Design programs. started.  
1964 Aug 20-23 PSG Polytechnic Silver Jubilee celebrations M. E. Production programme started.
1965 July 20 PG Diploma programs. in Business Management and Industrial Management started.
  Aug 4 B.Tech Textile programme started
1968 June 20 B.E. Electronics and Communication and B.E. Metallurgy programs. started.  
  July 15 M.E. Applied Electronics and Servo Mechanism programs. started.
    28 Silver Jubilee of Prof. GRD’s service celebrated.
1970 Oct 8 Dr. R. Subbayyan assumed office as Principal.
1971 Aug 20 M.B.A. (Full Time & Part Time) M.Tech Textiles, B.Sc Applied sciences, PG Diploma in Industrial Engg. and Part time B.E. programs. started. Semester system for M.E. introduced.
1972 Jan 26 Prof. G. R. Damodaran assumed office as Managing Trustee and Correspondent.
1974     PSG Foundry at Neelambur started.
