I am happy to learn that alumni association is releasing an e-newsletter which bridges the gap between the alumni and the college. I look forward to the involvement of alumni in the academic activities of PSG TECH. I specially congratulate the immense effort taken by the PSG TECH alumni association for strengthening the bond existing between the college and the alumni network. I wish our alumni association all success in their new ventures and all our alumni and their family members “THE VERY  BEST”.

It is a matter of pride that our PSG TECH alumni association is releasing an e-newsletter. This newsletter portrays good number of activities happening in the college and the alumni achievements. The alumni are definitely a source of strength and encouragement for making PSG TECH, an institution of excellence. This will go a long way to connect all alumni and strengthen the alumni interaction with the college. The PSG Tech Alumni are widely distributed all over the world and the need for a medium to connect with our Alumni has long been desired. This e-newsletter features Alumni information, significant achievements of Alumni, major recent events in college etc. It would be appreciable if you could send to us information of any significant achievements, distinctions achieved, awards received to enable us to not only give wide publicity of this information among the Alumni but also the opportunity to rejoice in the success of our alumni.

PSG TECH Alumni association in a visionary new venture has eclipsed itself. Having produced more than 50 batches of graduates, post graduates and diploma engineers, PSG TECH is a household name in every part of the world and in almost all sectors. The active alumni play a pivotal role in establishing their Alma Mater’s supremacy in the field of engineering education. I whole heartedly acknowledge their service to PSG TECH. I congratulate the Alumni association for bringing out this e- newsletter.

STUDENT  ACTIVITIES

  His Excellency Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam visited our campus on August 25, 2007 and delivered a motivating speech amidst a huge number of engineering students.

 

 

KRIYA’08-an intercollegiate techno management fest was, organized by the students. Kriya included several talks by distinguished guests like Dr. John C Mather, Astrophysicist, NASA, Dr. Mylsamy Annadurai, Project Director, Chandrayan, ISRO and Mr. Jimmy Wales, Founder, Wikipedia.

 

 

 

 

 

The students of Mechanical Engineering organized the RC Car Stunt Show, “OVER STEER” in the PSG IM grounds for the first time in India and this event attracted multifarious spectators. RENAISSANCE’08 – an intercollegiate Cultural Festival was organized on March 8th and 9th 2008 which included events like Foot Loose, Variety Show, Light Music and Movie Spoof. Mr. Raju Sundaram, famous choreographer graced the function and adjudged the foot loose event.

 

TEK MUSIC

Rotract club of Coimbatore conducted an event SAREGAMA ’08 in which our troop won the first place. Mr P.Rohit ( III BE CIVIL ) was adjudged the best male singer  by the RAGAMALIKA team of JAYA TV and he also won first place in the solo singing competition organized by IIT MADRAS. Our Tek Music troop entered the quarter finals in the ‘oolalala’ event hosted by the SUN TV.

SPORTS

A new game named “SEPAK TAKRAW” was introduced in our college. Our students have performed exceedingly well and have reached greater heights in this game. S.Balaji (2004 B.E ECE), lead the senior Indian Sepak takraw team to the World Championship at Pathalong Province, Thailand. R.Srikanth  (III B.E., ECE) and N.Sivabalan  (III B.E., CSE) represented Tamil Nadu Sepak takraw team.  K.N.Guru Prasath  (III B.E., Automobile) and G. Anitha ( III B.E., ECE) represented the Coimbatore District  Hockey teams. E.Vijay Ganesh (IV BE ECE) won the Gold Medal in the Weight Lifting Competition in Anna University Zone as well as TIES ’08 competition.

 

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS

 
  • Dr. Shiva Subramanya Nadar, Alumnus of PSG TECH, added yet another feather to his cap by receiving the most prestigious award of the country “PADMABHUSHAN” for the year 2008.

 

 

 

  • Prof.Rajkumar (1984 B.E ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University played a key role in their team winning $2Million prize in a driverless car event during a competition hosted by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Mr. Sundareswaran (1984 B.E EEE) was a part of yet another team who were finalists in the same competition.

The contribution of the alumni to this newsletter is greatly appreciated.  The alumni are requested to mail their achievements as well as that of the other alumni to reminiscence@alu.psgtech.ac.in

 

 

ALUMNI GET-TOGETHERS

CHENNAI CHAPTER

The Chennai Chapter organized a get together on the 7th of July. Dr. P.V Mohanram, Dean, Autonomous Functioning and HOD, Mechanical Engineering, Dr.V.Balusamy, Secretary, Alumini Association and  Mr M. Arasu, Joint Secretary,  Alumni Association were present.

 

TRICHY CHAPTER

 

 

 

 

On 16th September 2007, Trichy  chapter organized the Alumini General Meet. Students from tek music gave a delightful touch on the rhythms.
BANGALORE CHAPTER

 

 

 

On the 6th October 2007, a family get together was organized at Koramangala in Bangalore .Around 400 alumni attended this get together with great enthusias.

 

HOSUR CHAPTER

On 7th October 2007, a family get together was held at Hotel Sivaranjini, Hosur followed by the tek music show for enchanting the audience.

 

 

TRIVANDRUM CHAPTER

 

 

 

On 1st March 2008, Trivandrum chapter organized a family get together and prize distribution of Prof GRD talent test.

YAM 2007-08(22nd and 23rd December)

Mr. M.Arasu, Joint Secretary, PSG Tech Alumni Association welcomed the exuberant young alumni to the meet. Mr. R.Ravindran, President, PSG Tech Alumni Association, delivered the presidential address. The Patron Dr.R.Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology, elaborated on the growth of the college. Shri.N.Subramaniam, Managing Director, M/s. Habasit Iakoka Pvt. Ltd,   Coimbatore, delivered the chief guest’s address. A department wise interaction between the alumni, HOD and the faculty was also organized. It provided a platform for the students and the teachers to know about the present day corporate world.

Tek music entertained the alumni with a soul stirring performance and it was followed by the Dramatix club with their cultural show.

 On 23rd December 2007, Sixer’s cricket match was conducted for the alumni.

 

 

FOOT OVER BRIDGE

The greatest achievement of the PSG Tech is the construction of the Foot Over Bridge across the Avinashi Road, in order to provide a safe and convenient crossing for those coming from hostel to college and vice versa.

We will take you to the sanctum sanctorum of care, enjoyment and rest – PSG TECH HOSTEL
