SU'07 Inaugration - July 12th:
This year's swirl of events kicked off with the inauguration of STUDENTS UNION. Held at the newly renovated Q-angle, the event was of a typical stature of 'SU' with the crowds daunting to have a look at the dream team. It was presided over by Dr. P Radhakrishnan, Vice Chancellor, VIT and the chief guest was Mr. K Pandiarajan, President MAFOI MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY.
ICON 2020 - July 5th:
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam – a living legend was honoured by PSG Tech. ICON 2020 was a function to commemorate the services of the great man, Kalam. The event was preside by his colleague and friend, Dr. P. Angelo, Dean, Centre for non continual education.
First year admissions - August 1st,2nd,3rd:
'SU' welcomed freshers with open arms by helping the admission procedure in the admissions. An orientation programme was held at the Q-angle to give an insight into the life and studies at PSG Tech with exclusive inputs from the top people of the management.
Passports made easy - August 8th:
'SU' made history by arranging passports for over 800 people on a single platform including faculty and students. The event was hugely popular with the turnout dissolving the bought applications in a jiffy.
Independence day celebarations - August 15th:
The Independence Day was celebrated with dignity and glamour. The diamond jubilee was marked with several programmes by different clubs.
E-banking (Guest lecture by ICICI)-August 17th:
ICICI bank gave a lecture on how to use E-banking facility for transactions and other services. 'SU' had once again made its authority on technicality.
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam's Visit - August 25th:
The living legend visited our esteemed institution. He gave a speech to the huge crowd gathered and they repeated to his speech. He inspired the students and there were none who would have gone with nothing in their mind while leaving the place.
General Council Meeting - August 31st:
A council meeting was held with around 300 representatives ranging from the third level to the first level of 'SU'.
Teacher's Day - September 5th:
Our knowledge was made when we were born. But, it is enhanced by our teachers. 'SU' payed tribute to such a community by issuing greeting cards and chocolates to all staff members.
INTRAMS - September 22 nd ,23rd:
INTRAMS, an intra college cultural was held on September 22 nd and 23 rd . It provided a huge platform for the widely diversified and multi-talented Techians. The event was a huge success with two days of fun and frolic. Not to mention also the hard work of hundreds of volunteers whose toil became the toast of the show. The audience throbbed with dance and swayed with music. 'Chamandalam' – a Kerala musical band performed amidst loud cheers. The highlight being the stage setup with entire lighting effects for the first time ever in TECH.
Chamatkaar - October 10th:
Chamatkaar – an intra collegiate quiz competition was held. The fuzziest brains of tech battled it out for the grand prize of 1 GB thumb drive. The competition was intense and it led to a nail biting finish.
KRIYA'08:
Kriya’08, the techno-management fest that was held under the banner of the Students Union, was a most enthralling three day technical fiesta. The event saw eminent personalities like Jimmy Wales, Founder, Wikipedia, and Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, Project Director, Chandrayaan-1, step foot on PSG Soil, for Guest Lectures in their respective areas of expertise. Also wired to the event for a Video Conference, was Dr. John C Mather, Nobel Laureate & Chief Astrophysicist, NASA. This year around, Kriya’08 staged 45 events under various streams of engineering, which made the event a technically diverse. The event was a smashing success among the student community, who were facilitated with a platform to portray the best of their wit and talent. This makes Kriya’09, an event to be on the lookout for.
