Profile of the core

This centre will provide academic training of very high standard in collaborative product design, integrating a broad range of IT tools across a variety of platforms covering activities like CAD/CAM, Rapid Prototyping, product data management, visual simulation, virtual assembly planning and cost and risk analysis.

The concepts of product life cycle management, extended manufacturing enterprises and enterprise-wide product visualization are the key issues addressed by this CORE. The centre will train the students and engineers to use world wide web and internet effectively for real collaboration in product development and commerce..

The centre has got strong industry linkage with the support from PRICOL, an automobile giant and PTC, world’s largest software vendor in CAD/CAM and PDM.

The educational program would cover CAD/CAM, industrial design, concurrent engineering, rapid prototyping, virtual product data management, collaborative product commerce, product development strategies, optimization techniques and engineering simulation. Several Educational Programs in the post graduate, diploma and certificate levels will be conducted by the center.
