Report on Research Conclave 2024

The Third edition of the National Level Research Conclave was organized by PSG College of Technology during May 16-17, 2024

This conclave series, a brainchild of our beloved Principal, was envisaged as a platform for academicians, researchers, and practicing engineers, to exchange ideas and share experiences in research and innovation. The preliminary discussions organized by the Principal with the Deans and Heads of Departments led to the finalisation of the theme of the conclave as “Bridging knowledge gaps for a sustainable future” with various domains relevant to industries and society in which research articles were invited for submission. It was decided to conduct the conclave on May 16 – 17, 2024 in conventional physical mode.

Committees including organizing committee, registration committee, advisory committee, industry collaboration, program committee etc. were constituted to take care of various activities of the conclave.

The web portal developed during the first and the second editions of the conclave was reconfigured for the third edition and was used for sharing the information about the conclave. The portal was used as a platform for the delegates to register for the conclave and submit their research articles. Also, through the portal, manuscripts were sent for blind review to reviewers and feedback from them were shared to the authors The authors were able to seamlessly submit their camera-ready articles. The portal also provided a gateway for delegates from other institutions to register and pay the registration fee online in a secure manner.

320 research articles were received through the portal and 279 papers were accepted for presentation in the research conclave.

Dr. Navinkumar, Professor, Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar had kindly accepted our request to be the chief guest of the inaugural function and delivered a lecture on Biomechanical aspects of nature.

Based on the guidance from the Principal, eminent academicians and industry professionals with rich expertise were invited to deliver Keynote lectures to the participants of the research conclave.

Dr. K Sivakumar, Head, Concrete technology, L & T constructions, delivered a lecture on “Concrete for resilient, sustainable and durable infrastructure on 16th May 2024. The third keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Shanthanu Bhattacherjee, Businesss material head, TVASTA manufacturing solutions Pvt Ltd., Chennai, in the area of 3 D printing. This was followed by an eminent lecture by. Mr R. Ramasubramanian, Head (Business Development), High Energy Batteries (I) Ltd, Mathu

Day 2 started with a key note address by Mr. Madan Ganesh Velayudham, Sr. Director, Product innovation and engineering, NTTDATA on generative AI, followed by a session on Wireless communications and IOT by Mr. Deepak Pancholi, Founder and CEO, Nexgen silicon technologies Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore. Dr. Monto Mani, Professor, Centre for sustainable technologies, IISc., enlightened the participants on Sustainable Sciences. All the sessions were lively and interactive with a flurry of questions from the audience after the end of each session

Technical sessions were organized under the various domains identified for the conclave in different departments of the college on both May 16th and 17th. Altogether, 44 technical sessions were organized, and in each session, the authors presented 6 to 7 papers. Each session was chaired by a senior professor and was assisted in conducting the sessions and awarding grades by department-level co-chairs.

Industries were also approached to sponsor awards for some of the best papers in the 7 different domains that are relevant to industries.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Jasti, Senior Vice president, Propel Industries Pvt Ltd., Coimbatore was the chief guest of this valedictory function
