2019A patent titled "An Adsorbent For Effective Fluoride Removal From Groundwater", filed by Dr J. Hema and Dr. V. Ramamurthy of Dept. of Biotechnology, PSGTECH was granted by the patent office, Govt. of India.
A patent titled "An Adsorbent For Effective Fluoride Removal From Groundwater", filed by Dr J. Hema and Dr. V. Ramamurthy of Dept. of Biotechnology, PSGTECH was granted by the patent office, Govt. of India.
This invention relates to a process for preparation of an adsorbent suitable for community level defluoridation of groundwater in endemic areas with more than safe level of fluoride content. The process involves surface modification of granular lime stones with calcium chloride and sodium dihydrogen phosphate so as to bring about an ability to adsorb fluoride from groundwater. Using this adsorbent the fluoride level in groundwater can be reduced to safe level of less than 1.5 ppm within a residence time of 12 to 24 hours. -

A patent titled "Process Of Preparing Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (Am) Fungi Using Coir Pith Fibre Substrate ", filed by Dr Jayanthi of Dept. of Biotechnology, PSGTECH was published by the patent office, Govt. of India.
A process of preparing Arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) fungi containing substrate for improving root colonization of a host plant is provided. The process includes (a) inoculating 15g – 20g of the Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi on 1 kg of coir pith fibre, to obtain an AM fungi containing coir pith substrate, (b) sowing seeds of the host plant on the AM fungi containing coir pith substrate, (c) adjusting a pH of the AM fungi containing coir pith substrate to 5.6 to 6.5 and (d) incubating the AM fungi containing coir pith substrate that is sowed with the seeds of the host plant at a room temperature and a moisture that ranges from 30% to 35% for 60-70 days to improve root colonization of the host plant.
