We are living in an information age and witnessing a phenomenal growth in Information and Communication Technology. This growth has thrown challenges to the education system to keep abreast of the latest technologies.

From a modest beginning in 1999 with a single BTech program with 60 students the department has scaled heights and today offers three programs, one UG program in IT and two PG programs, one in IT and one in Biometrics and Cybersecurity, with a total student strength of 550.

The department endeavors to provide total customer satisfaction by sincerely adhering to the quality policy of the institution and focusing on faculty development, update of facilities and continual improvement.

The infrastructure development in the department has kept pace and state of the art labs have been established to cater to the three programs. A research centre has been setup to promote research in the department. The strength of a department lies in the shelves of its library. True to this saying, the department has a well equipped library. To cap it all the department has obtained NBA accreditation for Six years for the BTech IT program and also PG Programmes M.Tech IT and M.E. BCS are accreditated by washington accord.

The department conducts Board of Studies meetings to receive inputs from the stake holders, namely, industry experts, institution experts, parents and alumni for curriculum development. The Information Technology Association of the department organizes guest lectures and conducts technical events to hone the skills of our students. Alumni meets are conducted annually to hear suggestions from the alumni for the development of the department. With the guidance and motivation of the Principal, support of the management and dedication of the faculty, the department of Information Technology is always in pursuit of excellence.

The Department of Information Technology offers an excellent atmosphere for students to learn and acquire the necessary skills demanded by the Industry. The department has experienced faculty members who are fully committed to teaching and research. The students have access to well equipped, state-of-the-art laboratories. A wide range of research activities undertaken in the department allow the students to gain contemporary knowledge about real-life problems in the industry. The well thought out curriculum requires the students to take up a broad spectrum of courses, while simultaneously allowing emphasis on desired areas of specialisation. Hence, the Department has brought out outstanding engineers in the past and will continue in doing so in the years to come. It is our honour to say that all our programmes, B.Tech -IT, M.Tech - IT and M.E - BCS are accreditated to Washington accord

                  Vishnu Ram G and Jayanth Jayaraman M secured RUNNERS(2ND PLACE) in TENNIS(Men) in the Anna University Inter-Zonal Tournament for the year 2016-17 held at SSN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING.

                    Mr.Siddharth Kulkarni who graduated in 2012 as BTech in Information Technology, has made it to ESCP Europe, the B-School which has been consistently ranked amongst the top 3 worldwide, for the Masters in Management program.He has been rewarded with the prestigious 'Charpak Scholarship' by the French government for a commendable 99 percentile in GMAT.

                      Mr.Anandh Ramesh, an alumnus of the Department of Information Technology, currently Director & Chief Mentor of MAAC,Voxel Works Private Limited. He has accomplished himself in a profession that is at the forefront of a great and epochal revolution, 3D. He has held laudable positions in various sectors like IT Research, Multimedia Programming, 3D Animation & Visual Effects for films, Stereoscopic 3D, Filmmaking & Rigging. With film screenings in several international film festivals, certifications like FXPHD, Brain bench, IBM and awards like Grand Prize for Animation - Film Skillet International Film Contest, to his credit, he is a role-model for every aspiring student to look up to.

                        Dr.K.R.Chandran got Certificate of Merit and Cash Award by SITRA, for his outstanding contribution towards research. He was also nominated as Resource Person for the Asian Regional Research Program on Energy, Environment and Climate Phase II in 2000.
